We live here too. That's why we started this.
Some practices are built around a business plan. Ours was built around a problem we kept seeing — and eventually couldn't ignore.
We live in Coal Creek Canyon, which means we know firsthand what it's like to load a stressed dog into a car, wind down mountain roads, and arrive at a clinic already knowing your pet is exhausted before the visit even begins. We felt that. We watched it happen with our own senior dog, and it was stressful for us, we wanted to do better as pet parents.
We knew there had to be a better way. So in early 2025, we built one.
Altitude Animal Aid is our answer — a mobile veterinary practice built around one simple idea: that pets do better when they're cared for at home. Our mission is to bring compassionate, personalized veterinary care directly to the pets and families who need it most, whether you're tucked into a mountain canyon or settled into the foothills communities below. From Coal Creek Canyon to Golden, Nederland to Arvada, Boulder to Wheat Ridge — we come to you.
In our first year alone:
~200
families cared for across the foothills
~600
pet visits completed in-home
8,800+
miles traveled to reach your door
Fear-free, low-stress care isn't a marketing phrase for us. It's the reason we started this practice. We've seen how much calmer animals are when they're examined at home — and how much more accurate those exams can be when your pet is comfortable and feeling safe.
Care at home
Pets are calmer, exams are better, and your not stuck in traffic.
Senior & hospice focus
Specialized care for aging pets, with compassion at every stage.
Unhurried appointments
We take the time to talk, explain, and actually get to know your pet.
Built for the foothills
We serve the mountain communities we actually live in.
What we do looks different from traditional veterinary care — and that's exactly the point. Your dog gets examined on their own living room floor. Your cat never leaves the house, and can stay in their favorite spot. Your senior pet doesn't have to endure a car ride that drains them before the appointment even starts. Appointments aren't rushed. There's time to talk, ask questions, and make decisions together without feeling rushed.
We have a particular soft spot for senior pets and the families who love them. Helping aging pets stay comfortable, mobile, and happy — and helping families navigate those harder moments with honesty and compassion — is some of the most meaningful work we do.
Whether you're up in the mountains or out in the foothills, you deserve veterinary care that feels personal, unhurried, and genuinely kind. That's what we set out to build. That's what we show up to deliver, one home visit at a time.
